2012 COPD Awareness Resolutions and Proclamations

H.J.R. 290 recognizes November 2012 as "COPD Awareness Month." Enacted March 22, 2012.
ACR 131 recognized November 2012 as "COPD Awareness Month". This measure would encourage the State Department of Health Care Services, the State Department of Public Health, and other state entities to partner with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) stakeholders to improve education regarding COPD in the course of implementing the statewide strategic plan.
H. 9075 & S. 1194 recognizing the founding of the Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) Coalition of Florida and expressing appreciation for the organizers’ commitment to raising awareness of this disease. Adopted February 14, 2012.
Senate Resolution 1150 and House Resolution 1768 designates May 2012 as "COPD Awareness Month." Adopted: March 13, 2012.
H.C.R. 154 requests that the Department of Health develop a state action plan to combat COPD. Adopted April 23, 2012.
H Res 954 & S Res 714 adopted designates the month of November as COPD Awareness Month in the State of Illinois and urge the citizens of this State to become more aware of COPD and its effects.

H.R. 120 recognizes November 2012 as "COPD Awareness month." The Senate issued a Certificate of Recognition proclaiming November, 2012 as "COPD Awareness Month."
Senate Resolution 1826 requires the Kansas Department of Health and Environment to create a comprehensive COPD prevention and education state plan to foster public awareness and increase knowledge of COPD. The state plan shall outline sustainable solutions for reducing the burden of COPD in Kansas through coordinated implementation of multiple strategies (prevention, early detection, treatment, awareness, and funding). Joint Resolution HP 1406 to promote COPD awareness. Adopted: March 29, 2012.
The FY 2012 appropriations bill includes a provision (section 166) to establish a special commission to study strategies to promote public awareness and knowledge of COPD. The commission must submit a report with recommendations by December 31, 2013.
