Conference Overview
The Second National COPD Conference will host patients, healthcare professionals, government agencies, state coalitions and advocacy communities to collectively look back at the recomendations from the First National COPD Conference, assess where we are now, and plan a path forward. It is anticipated that the two day conference will attract over 300 people to the Washington DC metro area. The U.S. COPD Coalition has secured the leading experts in COPD to both Chair and plan the diverse program designed to encourage interactive discussions and hands on learning.
The specific objectives of the Second National COPD Conference are;
1. To assess progress that has been made based on the recommendations from the First National COPD Conference.
2. To produce a series of new recommendations reflecting the gaps that still remain in the areas of diagnosis, treatment, research, education and awareness.
3. To organize collaborative action teams to address the identified gaps in each area.
4. To provide patient organizations, state coalitions, public health professionals and clinical leaders with tools to take action in their local communities and organize under the Operation 435 platform including; templates for forming and sustaining state coalitions, template analysis reports for 2011 BRFSS data, advocacy tool kits
Attention individuals with COPD! The purpose of the Second National COPD Conference is to bring the entire COPD community together to discuss the gaps in COPD policy, treatment, education, awareness, and advocacy and plan a path forward. This conference will lay the foundation for future COPD policy and action and we want to hear from you! Thanks to the generosity of several COPD community leaders the U.S COPD Coalition is proud to offer travel scholarships to a select number of individuals with COPD.
